Volvo Polestar 1 revealed and promises to set benchmark in performance EV’s

Volvo Cars official performance company is known as Polestar. Today they are beginning a chapter as standalone electric performance brand. They have confirmed about their three new models which will be built at their new facility in China (completed by mid-2018). The first car from this Swedish brand will be Polestar 1. Polestar 1 will set-off from the production line by the year 2019. Polestar will accelerate the design, development and production process with the help of Volvo Car Group. CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath said that Polestar 1 will be the first from the company to carry the name on the bonnet.

He added that all the future Polestar cars will have fully electric drivetrain. Polestar 1 will be the benchmark on which future Polestar brand. Volvo Polestar 1 will have two-door and comprises of 2+2 seater. This Grand Coupe will also have Electric Performance Hybrid drivetrain. This electric vehicle will be supported by internal combustion engine and will have a range of 150 kilometers on electric. Hence, it will be longest full electric range for any hybrid car in the market. The overall setup generates 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque and places it among the performance based electric cars.

Polestar 1 is based upon the Volvo’s Scalable Platform Architecture that is developed by Volvo’s engineer and is 50 per cent new and bespoke. It will be fitted with Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi) advanced chassis technology and has carbon fiber body that reduces bodyweight and increases torsional stiffness by 45%. Customer can own this car via online with two to three years subscription. The company is discarding the old procedure. Polestar 2 will commence the production by late 2019 and it will be first battery-electric vehicle. It will compete against Tesla Model 3. The order for Polestar 1 is open now and ordering and configuration can be done through app or online portal.
