The Volkswagen Golf R Performance made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. However, the German company was very silent about it. The company later released an official featuring the Volkswagen Golf R Performance along with some information on its official website. The car is a sharper and faster variant of the Golf R flagship prototype. At the show, the Volkswagen Golf R Performance was covered in an exhaust titanium system. The car also had Pirelli Trofeo R tires that are quite stickier.
The same tires were an option for the Lamborghini Huracan Performance. The Volkswagen Golf R Performance deactivates the maximum speed of the original Golf R. The latest Golf has a top speed of 155 mph, which is 11 mph more than its predecessor. The car packs in TSI 2 litre engine that churns out 306 horsepower. The Performance package also boasts of brake drilled discs and added aero parts such as air curtains featuring on rear spoiler and front bumper.
The air curtains add around 44 pounds of downforce to the car. The Volkswagen Golf R Performance can go from 0-62 mph in just 4.6 seconds because of the DSG transmission system. Interested buyers can get the Performance package available on Euro spec models. As far as the upgrades are concerned, it seems that one of the hottest hatchbacks is going to rule the roads quite soon. Enthusiasts across the globe are likely to wait for this sharper and smarter hatch to unleash its power and performance in an amazing way.
