The Subaru WRX STI gets tweaked exterior styling, better brakes, a quieter and more comfortable cabin, and sharper handling. It looks more or less same to the outgoing model. The WRX STI enters the 2018 model year with comfort, performance, design and safety enhancements for more rewarding driving experience. It’s really hard to point out what they actually changed. Still the revised front looks the same like the WRX front. There is still a big wing on the back of the STI. The Subaru WRX STI doesn’t get any boost in power. It is powered by the same 2.5 liter turbo flat four with 305 HP. It gets a suspension overhaul with modified tuning to increase ride comfort and improve handling.
Under the skin the Subaru WRX STI gets some upgrades. It has an upgraded all wheel drive system. Previously the STUI used electronic and mechanical controls for its center differential. But now it is fully controlled b electronics. Subaru says it becomes faster and smooth. The Subaru WRX STI also gets new brakes by Brembo, two piston calipers in the rear and six piston calipers at the front. The pads are painted in a bright Day-Glo yellow shade. It sits on the new 19 inch wheels.
It gets a modified front bumper to improve its look and also Subaru’s front collision Eyesight mitigation system. In the interior, the pair gets a more high quality materials and additional sound insulation. Subaru stated that the interior changes consists of newly available Recaro front seats, black glossy trim, some squishier plastics, available power for those seats and driver assistance technologies.
