Skoda had earlier previewed a concept vehicle in China and called it as Vision GT. Skoda Vision GT made its global debut at Shenzhen Auto Show in China as preview for an upcoming SUV. Skoda’s fifth SUV will be coupe-like crossover similarly to Kodiaq GT. If it lands on production belt before the end of this year, Vision GT will be called Kamiq GT. It will be based on China based Skoda Kamiq that uses PQ34 platform. Thus, Kamiq GT will be an affordable SUV. As the Skoda Vision GT reveals, Kamiq GT will feature a distinctive design when compared with stock Kamiq.
The styling of new SUV is inspired by Skoda’s other European models such as Scala, and Kamiq. It is more evident by the shape of taillight and headlights. Apart from featuring sloping roofline and sleek light units, Skoda Vision GT also comes with sporty details such as the dual-color wheels filling the flared wheel arches, and the aggressive bumpers featuring a big grille at the front and a sizeable diffuser at the rear. There are interesting touches made to the SUV such as pop-out door handles, the black roof, and satin aluminum trim on the outside. Nonetheless, we must point out that it is in concept form, so the design will be toned down for production.
With respect to interior, not much is known about it for now. However, we are not expecting many changes when compared with Kamiq current available in China. Talking about the powertrain, logical conclusion would be usage of 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine. Engine is rated at 109hp and 150 Nm of torque. In Kamiq, engine is mated with an automatic transmission as standard.
