The Skoda Kodiaq coupe is based on the recently revealed Skoda Kodiaq SUV. According to AutoExpress, the sportier version of this model is surely on the company’s to do list for the European markets. This has actually been stated by Bernhard Maier (Skoda’s chief). He has said that the Skoda Kodiaq coupe SUV is a wonderful derivative. They are going to make this brand even more emotional. So, it really seems that something promising is there waiting for us. However, Skoda has already given a green signal for the Kodaiq’s coupe derivative in China.
The Skoda Kodiaq coupe for China is going to be assembled locally. The company would love to have the coupe derivative at the European dealerships. But before that, Skoda has to ensure it has enough production capacity. Christian Strube (R&D Board Member) says they would like to have the Skoda Kodiaq coupe in Europe. But the real issue is that they don’t have the capacity to build everything that they would like to manufacture. But he has even mentioned that there would be a big potential for the Skoda Kodiaq coupe. So, basically it is a question of capacity in their factories.
The Skoda Kodiaq coupe is expected to receive sweptback profile, sloping roofline and a front end which is inspired by the Skoda Superb. The model is expected to have large wheels as well. It is said that the interior has drawn its inspiration from Superb and several other vehicles of the VW Group. The car is going to available solely as a 5 seater. It would offer bigger boot capacity as well. The Kodiaq coupe will also have a wide range of diesel and petrol engines paired to DSG automatic and manual transmissions. Plug in hybrid and GreenLine versions of the car are being considered as well.
