SEAT Cupra Crossover is set to arrive 2020 with 300hp range for PHEV version

It is reported that the upcoming Seat Cupra plug-in hybrid crossover will arrive in 2020. It will deliver an astonishing range of 300 miles with their range topping version. This will be a critical part of SEAT plans to introduce new vehicles every six months till 2020. The discussed Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) is designed as Cupra model from the beginning. Nonetheless, it is also detuned and will be sold as cheaper and accessible version of SEAT according to their company’s boss Luca de Meo while talking to Autocar.


SEAT Cupra is riding on the Volkswagen’s MQB underpinnings. It follows Leon footstep’s as second model with plug-in hybrid powertrain. At this point if time, details of the new SEAT Cupra is not open to the world and everything is just speculation. Nonetheless, Cupra’s Research and Development boss Matthias Rabe said that SEAT Cupra will be offered with different versions. It will be offered in range of 200 to 300 horsepower. Somehow, if SEAT Cupra does manage to cross 300 horsepower, it will be slightly be dynamisms than Cupra Ateca.


Seat Cupra Ateca is powered with EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and offers 296hp. This setup enables the vehicle to reach 62mph from 0 in 5.4 seconds. It is anticipated that the new Crossover Utility Vehicle will be much more powerful than that. Apart from Cupra, SEAT is also working on all-electric model. It might be called as Born, Born-E, and E-Born. It will arrive in the year 2020 and will have similar dimensions to that of Leon. The production of it will begin from late 2019.
