After achieving this feat, Laurent said that Spa-Francorchamps is one of favorite European circuits for drivers and he is delighted and proud of this feat. The circuit is fast and complex, the Megane RS Trophy-R is perfect for this configuration. Earlier this year, he was the one who drove Renault Megane RS Trophy-R at Nurburgring to create record. He further stated that word done on aerodynamics balance proved its value. The sensation in the Raidillon, Pouhon and Blanchimont corners was exemplary. Similar to Megane RS Trophy, Megane RS Trophy-R uses 1.8-liter turbocharged engine with 296hp. But it has more aerodynamic and weighs 286 lbs lighter.
For development of Renault Megane RS Trophy-R, Renault Sport collaborated with Akrapovic, Brembo, Bridgestone, Ohlins and Sabelt, for the exhaust system, brakes, tires, shock absorbers and bucket seats, respectively. To make Megane RS Trophy-R exclusive, Renault Sport has capped its production and only 500 units will be made available. Megane RS Trophy-R will be launched by the ned of this year and price start from €55,000 in France. It is €10,700 expensive than Megane RS Trophy, and €16,700 than regular Megane RS.
