Renault wants to be the best in the utility vehicle market in Latin America. The new Renault Alaskan pickup is revealed and it marks a major step into its segment. This model is the first brand’s one-tonne pickup. It made its debut in Colombia, Medellin. The automaker also planned to introduce this truck to South American countries before going on sale globally. You cannot buy Renault Alaskan in Alaska as Renault will not see models in the United States. The design of the truck is very similar to Alaskan’s 2015 concept. It is shown as a double cab. But the truck will be also available in chassis and single cab configurations with a long and short bed bodies.
Renault is offering the customers different engines. So you can select whatever you want. The company’s 2.3 litre Biturbo dCi diesel 4 cylinder produces 190 or 160 HP. The buyers can also select 2.5 litre gasoline fueled 4 cylinder or 2.5 litre diesel with 160 HP depending on the market. The engines will be connected to 7 speed automatic or 6 speed manual. It sends power via a rear or all wheel drive powertrains.
There is also an electronic rear differential and mechanical rear locking differential is an optional for slippery situation. Renault said that the Renault Alaskan pickup truck can carry a one metric ton and has a five link rear suspension. The truck features a 7 inch navigation system, dual zone climate control and heated front seats. The 360 degree camera system should help you with tight maneuvers.
