The upcoming Geneva Motor Show is being eagerly awaited by many car enthusiasts. Range Rover will be also taking part at this Swiss marque show. They will introduce a new model which expands Range Rover family. The name of the new model is Range Rover Velar. Range Rover Velar will be the fourth member of the Range Rover family. The name Velar is inspired from the 1960’s prototypes. Range Rover Velar is slotted between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport.
The price for the entry level Range Rover Evoque is around $41,000 whereas for Range Rover Sport it’s around $$65,000. Even though the details of the pricing have not been revealed yet, it is expected that it would be around $50,000. The price range would give a good run for money to the likes of Porsche Macan, BMW X4 and BMW X6. A teaser image of the Range Rover Velar shows the rear end of the car. The teaser reveals few interesting features such as panoramic glass roof, and widescreen infotainment system.
Gerry McGovern who is the Chief Design Officer of Range Rover, branded Velar as glamorous, elegant and modern. Range Rover Velar is closely related to the Jaguar F-Pace with respect to the platform it shares. Both of these vehicles possess aluminium intensive IQ platform. This platform concentrates more on performance rather than off-road capabilities. It is reported that velar would be offered in mix of V6 and four-cylinder engine. A high performing V8 and plug-in hybrid is also very likely. Land Rover will be revealing more about the Range Rover Velar on 1st March 2017. So stay tuned for more information.
