Last week, Porsche brought Taycan prototype in Shanghai ahead of its Chinese debut. It was put through its paces at Porsche Experience Center by Chinese driver Li Chao. Now, it was demonstrated at Goodwood Festival of Speed by Mark Webber. Mark is a former Formula F1 and Le Mans driver and also won WEC Championship in 2015. On the roof of Porsche Taycan, Union Jack sticker can be found to celebrate its arrival in the United Kingdom. Incidentally, this is the second electric vehicle driven by Mark Webber at Goodwood after he drove 911 GT2 RS in 2017.
He said that power delivery of Taycan is awesome and he took part at this event two years ago with 911 GT2 RS. Hence, he knew that it is all about power and traction. He further added being a racing driver, he was impressed by Porsche Taycan even though it is still in prototype phase, accelerates off the start and out of the corners. Introduction of Taycan is a part of Porsche Triple Demo Run that will see it debut on three continents. Next stop for Porsche Taycan is in New York City for the season finale of Formula E Championship and will be helmed by Neel Jani.
Production ready version of Porsche Taycan will be unveiled in the month of September and is planned to launch before the end of this year. Porsche’s first electric vehicle will feature a 90 kWh battery pack and offers output in excess of 592 hp (600 PS / 441 kW). This setup will help the EV to hit 0 to 62mph in 3.5 seconds.
