Porsche Mission E Electric Vehicle to be called as Taycan

Porsche celebrated their 70th anniversary in a grand style by debuting Porsche 911 Speedster Concept. They had another surprise up their sleeves regarding the Mission E. The renowned German carmaker confirmed that production ready of the electric vehicle will be called Taycan. The name Taycan means a “lively young horse” that is also company’s animal on the crest. Porsche Mission E is the first electric vehicle from the company and will go into production next year. Apart from name confirmation, their CEO Oliver Blume confirmed that Taycan will be powered with two electric motors.

The combined output of the electric motors will be more than 592 horsepower. It will help the electric vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.5 seconds and takes less than 12 seconds to hit 124mph from stagnant position. If you think that Porsche Mission E performance is impressive then wait till you hear its range. The company claims that Porsche Taycan will have more than 310 miles. It is based on new European Driving Cycle. When the battery goes off completely, it will take few minutes for rapid recharging. Porsche even added that with four minutes of charging, Taycan will be able to travel 62 miles. It is a significant improvement over current EVs and will raise customer’s interest.

The addition of Taycan will further boost the Porsche lineup as the company plans to launch its variants and derivatives. To achieve this target, Porsche has a confirmed planning to spend over €500 million. In other news, Porsche has strongly hinted about the production version of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept. Other than Taycan and its derivatives, Porsche plans to spend €1.1 billion for the purpose of electrification and hybridization of their existing vehicles range.
