Porsche is planning to bridge the gap between first Cayenne Coupe and its sibling Lamborghini Urus. Now, question arises what are the steps they are undertaking. According to Instagram user Jonny Lieberman, who had an interaction with a Porsche insider said that they planning to put the Lamborghini Urus SUV’s engine into the Cayenne Coupe. Since, Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Lamborghini Urus shares the same Volkswagen’s underpinning, the task won’t be that difficult if indeed it is planned. Since, these are just speculations at this moment of time, we must take it with pinch of a salt.
Lamborghini Urus SUV is powered with twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that generates an impressive 641hp (650 PS/ 478 kW) and 850 Nm of torque. Essentially, it is a beefed-up version of the Volkswagen’s V8 engine. The same engine powers Porsche Cayenne Coupe and also Bentley Bentayga. Urus SUV is huge in size with curb weight that exceeds 2,200 kg but still it offers supercar like performance. Urus is able to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds and reaches the top speed of 190mph. To hit 0-124mph, it takes just 12.8 seconds.
When it comes to official nomenclature, Porsche has several monikers up their sleeves. Hence, it might be named as Cayenne GT Coupe, Cayenne Turbo S Coupe or Cayenne Turbo GTS Coupe. Interestingly, they have also trademarked GT5 which can turn up on any Porsche vehicles. The team in this alleged vehicle are people behind other Porsche race and other models such as GT3, 911 R, GT2 RS and 911 Speedster. The outgoing Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe is powered with 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that is rated at 542 hp and 768Nm of torque. When opted with optional Sport Chrono Package, it can hit 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds before topping out at 178mph.
