An independent study came up with Porsche 988 Vision. There is a good chance that it may not see light of day. However, we do like to see mid-engine hypercar from Porsche. The closest and most recent production model from the German automaker was the 918 Spyder. This hybrid hypercar is directly pitted against the likes of McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari. But after that Porsche has been going against the mid-engine rivals without mid-ship cars. Porsche opted for high-performance versions of the 911 and came up with 911 GT2 RS and 911 GT3 RS.
Porsche 988 Vision is created by designers Colorsponge and Invisive. It gives us a glimpse how a mid-engine supercar from Porsche would look like. The rendering images looks extraordinary. Going through the images, it seems that Porsche 988 Vision is inspired by 918 Spyder. It is more evident from the voluptuous front wheel arches and a rounded cabin that is little bit different from many angular rooflines found in other cars fighting in this segment. Elsewhere, Porsche 988 Vision features stunning LED headlights that resembles the shape of the front air intakes.
One would also notice presence of small rear-view camera in place of mirrors. It would help the car to slice through the air with little drag as possible. It is highly unlikely we could see such vehicle. However, there were few reports that suggested that Porsche were developing mid-engine rivaling likes of McLaren 720S, Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari F8 Tributo, but never saw any prototype.
