Does anyone remember Porsche introduced new model to celebrate company’s 70th anniversary? It was dubbed as Porsche 911 Speedster Concept and now it is confirmed that it is heading for production. This news may not sound for many as it was hugely expected. Porsche 911 Speedster is more powerful than 718 Boxster and sleeker than 911 Cabriolet. When it was showcased as concept, it said that the design was meant to capture essence of their sports car. However, at the Paris Auto Show, Porsche 911 Speedster was showcased in Guards Red just like the 1988 911 Speedster.

Production of the Porsche 911 Speedster will be limited to 1,948 units only. The specific units are a tribute to the year 1948 when Porsche 356 “Number 1” got their operating license. Aside of the exterior paint, Porsche 911 Speedster comes with different 21 inch center-lock wheels with stunning cross-spoke wheel design. It reminds us of 911 RSR and GT3 R race cars. Daytime running lights are finished in red to complement the body. To contrast bright red, black chrome and platinum has been used. It can be found on side mirror caps, fuel tank cap that is centrally located on the hood.

Porsche 911 Speedster is the first model to be offered with several Heritage Design Packages. In near future, we might see this package in other models too. Technical specification of the Porsche 911 Speedster has not been disclosed fully. Bodywork of the concept was based on Carrera 4 Cabriolet with carbon-fiber fenders and hoods along the suspension from the 911 GT3. GT division also furnished six-speed manual transmission and titanium tailpipes. Nonetheless, 911 Speedster is set to be expensive.
