There are handful of production road car vehicles that can complete quarter mile in the region of 10 seconds. One among them is the Porsche 911 GT3 and this particular owner took this machine onto a drag strip to find out its capabilities. He eventually founded that, in Porsche 911 GT3 best run, it covers 60-foot in 1.69 seconds and crossed quarter mile at a whopping 10.926 seconds at 125.46 mph. When we compare it with major player in this segment like the McLaren 720S, many would discount 911 GT3 as 720S does the same in 9-second range.

Upon closer inspection of list of fastest production cars taking on quarter mile challenge, many fans would find that majority of them used some form of forced induction and are often all-wheel drive. Porsche 911 GT3 uses small naturally aspirated flat-six 4.0-liter engine with rear-wheel drive. The engine offers 493hp. It takes same time as McLaren 570S to cover quarter mile. But 911 GT3 is lot inexpensive than 570S. McLaren 570S has performance edge over 911 GT3 as it is powered with twin-turbo V8 unit that offers more torque.

Nonetheless, we must point out that the owner of Porsche 911 GT3 was able to record a single sub-11 second quarter mile in the car where ordinarily it will lay down times in the low 11-second range. To achieve 10-second time record, drag strip was specially prepped beforehand. It would be almost to replicate on road using street legal tires. We have attached video of this record-breaking event.
