It seems that Porsche is targeting to hit the track hit with their new 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. It made its debut at 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is track-ready version of the road-legal 911 GT2 RS (991.2) with a massive rear wing. Power in the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is derived from 3.8 liter flat-six twin-turbo that offers 690hp. Porsche is only 200 units of GT2 RS Clubsport. So, if you are interested in purchasing then ensure you are first on the list. Porsche’s VP of motorsport and GT cars, Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser said that in coming years they would have GT2 RS for international motor racing events. They are currently having productive talks with SRO race organizers.
Generated power from the engine is transferred through seven-speed dual clutch gearbox (PDK) that eventually goes to wide rear wheels of 12.2 inches. Porsche claims that braking and traction performance is supported by the positioning of the engine which is behind the rear axle. It is further boosted by six-piston aluminum monobloc racing calipers up front. Front axles have 15.3 inch diameter ceramic disc brakes whereas the rear measures 14.9 inches. Weight of Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is just 1,390kg. It is equipped with Porsche Stability Management, traction control and anti-lock brakes. Driver has option to change these assistance systems separately or can switch them off via switch positioned on center console.
Interior of Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport comprises of removable carbon steering wheel color display along with a massive safety cage. Other features include Recaro racing bucket seat, air conditioner and six-point safety harness. To contain the weight, Porsche uses CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) roof with removable escape hatch, lightweight CFRP hood with quick release, removable CFRP rear hood with quick release, 115-liter FT3 safety fuel cell. Rear wing is also made from CFRP.
