Not many auto manufacturers are eager to introduce diesel engine in European market. Apart from Volkswagen there are many who got embroiled in the controversy as reports suggest that few of them cheated on it. However, this hasn’t deterred Opel from introducing diesel powered Insignia GSi Sports Tourer. The all-new Opel Insignia GSi Sports Tourer will be powered using 2.0 liter twin-turbo four-cylinder engine. The same engine made its debut on regular Insignia few days back. The output of the hardware is 207hp and 480Nm of torque.
The engine is mated with all-wheel drive system and works with 8 speed automatic transmission. To accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds and its top speed is 144 mph. With regards to the NEDC of the Opel Insignia GSi Sports Tourer, it gives 8.9l/100 km for urban whereas 6.1l/100 km for extra urban. The combined stands at 7.3l/100 km. The CO2 emission rating is 192g/km. If you prefer turbo powered gasoline engine, then there is provision for that too and it is branded as Insignia Sports Tourer GSi. This particular version gives an output of 256 horsepower and 400Nm of torque. To accelerate from stagnant to 62 mph, it takes 7.5 seconds before topping at 152 mph.
Opel Insignia GSi Sports Tourer along with Insignia Sports Tourer GSi uses FlexiRide chassis 20 inch wheels that wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires and Competition Mode that is enabled by turning off EPS. There are many visual tweaks which are present on the Insignia GSi Sports Tourer such as large chrome air intakes, new sports seat and leather wrapped steering wheel. The new estate will be showcased at Frankfurt and will eventually go on sale within coming months.
