Small and sometimes unknown startup are coming up with track-legal segment with a price tag of around $1 million. Czech based small engineering has come up with their new work. Performance Solutions is working on a street-legal race car. It is dubbed as “Mosquito” which is reminiscence of De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito British World War II fighter plane. This fighter plane was known for being lightweight and speed. Hence, Mosquito Supercar is extremely lightweight and is designed by Tomáš Sabáček. It is speculated that weight would be tipped around 974 kilograms as it would heavily use full carbon fiber body.
The Mosquito Supercar promises to deliver 600hp and 650Nm of torque with the help of naturally aspirated V8 engine. If we take lightweight of the supercar, it can achieve stunning performance figure. Performance Solutions business development manager, Ryan Thoma said that they have chosen an engine, but they are leaning towards American made powertrain. To keep the weight further down, engine will be mated to a single-clutch racing gearbox operated by paddle shifters. Mosquito Supercar claims to take 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds and will reach top speed of 199mph.
Supercar features proprietary Active Ride Control system. This system allows the vehicle’s suspension and aerodynamic subsystems to work in synchronicity, actively minimizing drag and maximizing downforce. Thus, it would be terrific for drag racing. Rendering shows that it will a racing aero kit with a massive rear wing, huge front splitter, and a central tail fin. Cabin consist of customizable dash including a head-up display and bucket seats built into the carbon fiber interior. Till now, only design phase is completed and there is still a long way to go. Only 18 examples of Mosquito Supercar will be made and each of the will be easily customizable. Price is expected to be in region of £1 million. Performance Solutions is taking built order reservations and plans to race it at Le Mans in future.
