The news has been that the latest Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross could give rise to a family of similar models. The family of models would have varied body styles as well as performance versions. Hiroshi Yamauchi is the program director of Mitsubishi’s C&D segment. He gave an interview at the Geneva Motor Show to the Motoring. Yamauchi said that there are a number of varied options being explored for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Hiroshi was also asked about a probable Ralliart version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
He answered that there are chances of the version coming to existence and can be an option for the model. He further added that he first wants to get a market feedback. The feedback would help him in deciding the future direction of the life-cycle management of the Eclipse Cross. Yamauchi wasn’t sure about the appropriate direction for the latest Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. He only affirmed that the Ralliart version might be a possible option. In addition to talking about the Eclipse Cross, Yamauchi also talked of company’s other plans.
The Japanese company might develop three door version of the model. However, he also hinted that the three door car will only come in existence in case the five door-ed Eclipse Cross achieves high sales. In Hiroshi’s personal opinion, the three door version of the Eclipse Cross would be interesting. However, from the business point of view, it is tough because of the tiny volume unit. The company would need huge amounts of investments for developing the three door version of the Eclipse Cross.
