Few hours later of the premier of MG E-Motion at Shanghai, the company dropped a bombshell. They announced that it will bring this sport car in the market by 2020. Matthew Cheyne who is MG Sales and Marketing head of UK territory said in an interview to Autocar that the response by the fan has overwhelmed them. This response has led them to start thinking about the production of this sport car and will acts as a competitor to the electric sport car segment. MG’s parent company, SAIC Motor hasn’t decided about the production of this car.
Since, the MG E-Motion is so new and fresh, the company haven’t informed us how the production version will differ from the concept. The powertrain details of the MG E-Motion remain under wraps and not much is known about it. Till now, MG has only announced that the MG E-Motion will have all-electric engine which will be developed in-house. The said powertrain will help the E-Motion to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph under 4 seconds. Remember that these are unofficial numbers as of yet. The hardware will enable the sport car to cover the range of 310 miles on a single charge.
The standout feature of the MG E-Motion is its exterior which is most talked about. The fluidic design along with sharp curves makes it look irresistible. The design of the car must have been done by some of most renowned designers. The front might resemble like Mazda. Inside the cabin, it will have advance connectivity system and touchscreen infotainment for front and rear passengers. E-Motion will have four-seat layout.
