Mercedes-Benz made some heart stopping models, among them is SLS AMG Black Series. Former celebrity talk show host and car fanatic, Jay Leno had an opportunity to test a modified version of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series owned by racing driver Graham Rahal. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was made between 2010 and 2014 and its range topping version was the Black Series model. AMG engineers made a series of upgrades to its naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine. In stock version, the engine delivers 622hp at 7400 rpm and 635 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. As expected, Graham Rahal is bit more powerful than the stock Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series.
With the help from Weistec’s big supercharger, this particular example manages to pump out 825hp. In this video, Michael Weiss who is CEO and president of Weistic Engineering walked through the features of this tuned Black Series. Aesthetically, no changes have been performed on the exterior and retains stock look that makes it even more stunning. Mercedes eventually retired SLS AMG and indirectly replaced it with new AMG GT. The model doesn’t feature the iconic gullwing doors.
Mercedes-Benz is yet to release range-topping AMG GT R Black Series which promises to be fast like never before. Nonetheless, many would still have soft spot for its predecessor Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. Weistick also incorporated a set of aftermarket long-tube headers that connect up to standard catback exhaust from AMG. Do watch the complete video here to know all about it.
