Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new and redesigned GLE Coupe and GLE 53 Coupe. It will take on the fight with BMW X6, this redesigned crossover coupe comes with evolutionary design. This is evident from bold front fascia that consists of a more prominent grille and restyled LED headlights. Moving back, we could see a more rakish windscreen and 19 to 22-inch alloy wheels. However, the biggest change is the inclusion of dynamic roofline that gives Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe like appearance. Sporty styling in the Mercedes-Benz GLE continues on the rear section. The crossover has bulging fenders giving a scary look.
There are also slimmer taillights and a liftgate with an integrated rear spoiler. Lastly, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe features a chrome-plated accent that wraps around the dual exhaust system. Compared with predecessor, 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is 1.5 inches longer, 0.3 inches wider and wheelbase has been stretched by 0.8 inches. Even though these differences are minor, but it is still 2.4 inches shorter than the standard GLE. Cabin of Mercedes-Benz GLE features 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 12.3 infotainment system. Moreover, steering wheel is equipped with leather wrapped along with sports seat and Artico (faux leather) dashboard. Mercedes claims that large dimensions of the vehicle makes it more spacious than the predecessor and comfortable enough to accommodate five people.
European version of Mercedes-Benz GLE comes with six-cylinder diesel engine that offers two different outputs. GLE Coupe 350 d 4MATIC is rated at 268hp and 600 Nm of torque whereas 400 d 4MATIC offers 325hp and 700 Nm of torque. Both these versions come with 9G-Tronic automatic transmission that sends power to standard all-wheel drive system. Only Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 Coupe is bound for America that features sportier styling along with hybridized powertrain with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. This engine offers 429hp and 521 Nm of torque. Nonetheless, this model comes with EQ Boost starter generator that is an electric motor offering an additional 21hp and 249 Nm of torque for short periods of time. With this setup, Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 Coupe is able to accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds before reaching a limited top speed of 155 mph.
