Mercedes has revealed all-new CLA Coupe at the Consumer Electronics Show after several teasers over the month. Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe is 184.56 inch long and 72 inch wide. Hence, it is longer by 1.88 inch longer and 2.08 inch wider along with 1.18 inch longer wheelbase when compared with predecessor. As we have anticipated with the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe, the major changes has been made in the interior. The showcased version is CLA 250 and is powered with turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine which is rated at 222hp and 350Nm of torque. The engine is paired with seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The range engine range has not been disclosed by Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe, but discloses it will include most of the engines from A-Class. Buyers can opt between manual and dual-clutch transmission with an option of 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Driving dynamics of Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe has been significantly improved as the front and rear tracks are wider with 63mm at the front and 53mm at rear with lower center of gravity. Mercedes even claims that new CLA is one of the most engaging compact car lineup till date. Mercedes CLA 250 comes with decoupled multi-link rear suspension for reduced noise and vibration, a fatter stabilizer bar for reduced body roll and optional adaptive dampers.
Mercedes tried to make CLA as slippery as possible to improve aerodynamics. Now, the drag coefficient is 0.23 which is quite an improvement considering previous version offers 0.22Cd and features significantly larger frontal area. Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe shares similar interior architecture as the A-Class that offers MBUX infotainment system with its dual-display setup and ‘Hey Mercedes’ advanced voice control feature. With respect to active safety kit, there are a semi-autonomous function, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Brake Assist and several more. Sale of CLA Coupe will commence from May in Europe and will hit US market by late 2019.
