After months of teasers and anticipation, we finally have the Mercedes-AMG Project One in flesh. The power in this concept comes from tweaked hybrid W08 F1 car and has four electric motors. The 1.6 liter turbocharged V6 engine along with electric motors gives us a combined output of 1000 horsepower. There are two electric motors on the front whereas the third electric motor is on top of the turbocharger. The fourth motor sits on top of the combustion engine. Front motors produce an output of 160hp whereas electric motor also gives same output. This boosted hybrid powertrain makes it for public road for the first time.
Mercedes-AMG Project One is capable of exceeding 217mph with ease. It can accelerate from 0 to 124 mph in under six seconds. The all-electric range is 15.5 miles with a help of drive system that has 800 volts. When drive under normal condition, the Mercedes-AMG Project One can recuperates 80 percent of its energy required that is then fed to the battery. The power in the rear-wheel is transmitted via automated eight-speed manual transmission which is developed specifically for this car. One can activate the gearbox through hydraulics and it offer manual and auto modes.
In the interior, there is 10 inch HD display and steering wheel which comprises of control for drive modes and suspension setup. Power window, air conditioner and rear view camera is also present as there is no rear window. Only 275 units of Mercedes-AMG Project One will be made which will be left-hand drive only. The price of the supercar will be $2.7 million for each unit. Unfortunately, all of them are sold out but it will take some time to see it on the road. It is because the company needs 18 more moths for development before delivering first production samples.
