Eight months ago, Mercedes-AMG revealed hardcore version of AMG GT lineup at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, GT R Pro has finally been launched in the US. Deliveries of first unit will begin by the end of this year. Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro will be priced from $199,650 excluding the destination and delivery fees of $995, bring price to over $200k. GT R Pro will be limited edition and only 750 units will be made available online. For this extra money, buyers won’t be getting an extra power bump over the GT R. Hence, they would have to be content with 577 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 unit.

Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is able to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and achieves top speed of 195 mph. Nonetheless, there is more to GT R Pro than just sticking new badges, pair of new stickers and fancy colors and some extra kit. Mercedes engineers have worked rigorously on the model and inspired from the GT3 and GT4 racers. It makes new GT R Pro more driver focused of the already commendable AMG GT. With regards to visual changes, there is more aggressive aero pack with big front air intakes and canards, carbon splitter, front wing air extractors, large rear diffuser and a fixed wing with lightweight forged alloy rims.

These are complemented by different carbon roof with lower center section, a carbon underbody, sportier coilover suspension with adjustable rebound and compression and carbon ceramic brakes as standard. All the upgrades give Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro an edge of six seconds at the Nurburgring than standard version. It demonstrates meticulous tunes chassis impacts demanding of this iconic circuit. Changes has been made on the inside with inclusion of sportier wheel and seats with several updates shared with rest of revamped AMG GT range. For instance, there is 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For multimedia interface, touch display buttons at the center console and new touchpad has been included.
