After revealing GT four-door range at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-AMG is seriously considering another bespoke AMG model. This news was confirmed by their boss Tobias Moers. However, unlike the AMG models from the past, Mercedes-AMG GT sports car and four-door are two cars (also Project One) which aren’t based around the standard Mercedes-Benz models. If Tobias Moers is to be believed this won’t be the last. The performance division of Mercedes-Benz didn’t disclose the form of the new car.
However, it there is a strong probability that it might be a small sports car. It might rival against the likes of Porsche Boxster or even Cayman. This news is based on report from Autocar. Nonetheless, Mercedes-AMG customers who are eager to purchase Boxster and Cayman rival can surely look for another alternative from the German automaker. It is none other than Mercedes-AMG SLC 43. The SLC 43 is terrific to drive and is quite fast, but there are few problems in it. The car inherently lacks balance of a mid-engine Porsche model and this is why it makes it undesirable for many.
Interestingly, Moers didn’t disclose whether such model is on cards, but he did confirm the fact that they are not planning for bespoke AMG SUV. In a statement he said that there was space for four-door GT but there are many AMG SUV derivatives in the market. For German carmaker it makes no sense to steal it from them just for the sake of making their own car. Please do tell which AMG model should the German automaker introduce.
