McLaren’s P1 GTR that has been converted for road use by Lanzante is currently being sold by McLaren London. Only 58 examples of track-legal McLaren P1 GTR were made and several of them were modified to make them into street legal. The unit which is being sold is in red and black with a chassis number 18 and is 28th unit on which Lanzante worked their magic. McLaren P1 GTR is powered with twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine and is mated with an electric motor.
Road-legal version of McLaren P1 delivers an output of 903hp whereas P1 GTR generates an impressive 986hp. Because of this setup, it takes less than 2.8 seconds to hit 60mph before hitting a top speed of 225 mph. To comply with stringent regulation, number of modifications were made to McLaren P1 GTR. These include fitment of handbrake, catalytic converters, treated tires and an increased ride height. Odometer on the used P1 GTR reads just 179 miles and the asking price of it is £3,000,000. It is around three times of the regular P1 available on the used market.
Earlier this month, we got a YouTube video from MrJWW driving a similar road-legal P1 GTR on German Autobahn. One of noticeable things was the lack of deadening sound. It was significantly louder than normal P1. Many would question practicality of driving P1 GTR on the road, but buyers who have deep pocket wouldn’t care.
