In the year 1989, Mazda introduced first MX-5 to the world at Chicago Auto Show. After thirty years and more than 1 million units later, Mazda has revealed 550 MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition at the same event. It is now up for grab in the UK. Production of Mazda 550 MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition is limited to 3,000 units globally, and out of them only 550 units are meant for Britain. It includes 370 Convertibles and 180 RFs. Price of this special edition starts from £28,095 and £29,895 respectively.
The limited-edition roadster is offered exclusively with Racing Orange. Additionally, it gains orange calipers, forged aluminum wheels developed in collaboration with Rays Co Ltd. There is also 30th anniversary badge which displays each car’s serial number and for the first time in UK, Brembo brakes are added. RF is marked out by its black roof. Cabin of the Mazda 550 MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition also constitute of orange accents and can be found on the seats, dashboard, air vents, steering wheel, and gearshift lever. It also features Recaro seats and Alcantara trim on the doors and instrument panel along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Mazda 550 MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition is powered with 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G petrol four unit. It offers an output of 181 hp (184 PS) and mated with six-speed manual and a limited-slip differential. Chassis of this special edition gets Blistein dampers and strut brace. Mazda’s UK Managing Director, Jeremy Thomson said that 30th Anniversary Edition is a perfect way to celebrate three decades of this iconic sports car. It is enhanced with unique detailing, generous equipment levels, exclusivity and bold Racing Orange paint.
