When Maserati introduced Ghibli, they used the phrase “The absolute opposite of ordinary.” Weirdly, the project we are going to discuss the same phrase as inspiration and created by a designer Ben Thompson. He created Maserati Diatto as a thesis project. Ben wanted Maserati Diatto to be unique and every single aspect to single out that includes wheels where the spokes are design to “guide your eyes” towards the center of the rim in order to behold the Maserati emblem. Moreover, the negative space between the spokes is meant to reveal the in-wheel motor and suspension system.
When one looks the overall aesthetics of the Maserati Diatto, it looks properly futuristic. It can only exist in the world from several years from now and as production ready model will arrive decades later. To make his project more interesting experience, Ben Thompson even created a new key to match the look of the car which has been attached here in the post. Moreover, there are not any buttons on the keys but there is only a swipe function to unlock and lock Maserati Diatto.
Lastly, we have to talk about the interior which also looks futuristic. The interior comprises of a simple dashboard design that enables the drivers and passengers with a small gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. Another interesting aspect of the concept is the in-wheel mounted paddle shifters but doesn’t seem ergonomically. We have attached gallery of the designer’s work and consist of every aspect of project he created.
