As we had reported, Lotus made public debut of their all-electric Evija at Monterey Car Week. It has been a month since Lotus Evija made its world debut in UK. Events such as The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance draws number of wealthy customers and collectors from around the globe. Thus, it is no surprise that Lotus decided to bring their fastest and most expensive production model at this event with a sole purpose to increase sales. Lotus Evija wore a dazzling shade of silver for this event. Without much effort, it managed to draw lot of interest which is surprising for a company like Lotus.
Lotus hasn’t been hugely popular or desirable in United States when compared to other automakers such as Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini. Powering the Lotus Evija is four electric motors that produces a combined output of 1973 horsepower and 1,700 Nm of torque. Company claims that the setup helps it to spring 0-62mph in 9 seconds and 0-186mph in 9 seconds. Lotus Evija promises to offer unmatched starting-line acceleration for any production with top speed in excess of 200 mph. Performance is also impacted as huge amount of downforce is generated.
Lotus Evija is limited to just 130 units and has a starting price if $2.1 million. To secure one-unit, buyers would have to pay a security deposit of $310,177. To ensure that Evija isn’t just about straight line acceleration, Lotus wanted to take the vehicle to Nurburgring along with 70 kWh battery pack. Evija wants to set a new record for a production vehicle at this circuit. It would have to complete the lap in 6:45.9 created by NIO EP9.
