McLaren 720S with us for a couple of years, but it looks like company has already started working on Longtail version of the same. If report from Piston Heads is to be believed, the new supercar could arrive next year and would follow the moniker such as 600LT and 675LT. Not much is known about the supercar, but might be dubbed as McLaren 750LT. Previous longtails versions is 100kg lighter thanks to the extensive usage of lightweight materials like carbon fiber and aluminium. Additionally, it also sports aerodynamic tweaks, a sportier suspension and a revised interior.
McLaren 750LT not only is lighter and sportier, but is expected to be more powerful than 720S. Specification is unknown at this point of time, but speculation suggest that unmatchable twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 has been upgraded to offer 740hp. In standard form, output stands at 710hp and in accordance with McLaren’s practice when it comes to such variants. Engine is likely to be paired with seven-speed SSG transmission that transfer power to the rear wheels. With help of software, it could be enhanced for faster shifts.
Considering extra power and reduced weight, McLaren 750LT will be quicker than 720S. It can accelerate from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds before reaching top speed of 212mph. McLaren 750LT might make its debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. Soon after, it will be followed by a Spider version. However, we must take these reports with a pinch of salt as no official statement on the subject has been provided.
