Koenigsegg has unveiled the replacement for the Agera RS. It is christened as Jesko, and pays tribute to father of Christian Koenigsegg. Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar comes with modified twin-turbo 5.0 liter V8 engine which is capable to offer 1,578hp on E85 fuel. Based on their own simulation, it can hot top speed of 300mph. Christian managed to keep the name secret of this new hypercar from his father. His father came to know about the name during the event. Jesko von Koenigsegg is an integral part of the company and has helped Christian to establish the brand as one of the renowned supercar leaders in the world. The modified engine features a flat -plane 180-degree crankshaft which is 5kg lighter and helps in revving engine up to 8500rpm. It generates more power and also produced deafening sound.
The two turbochargers are connected directly to a small electric compressor. It drives air tom it from 20 liter fuel air tank made from carbon fiber. Koenigsegg claims that because of this feature turbo lag is eliminated, which offers instant response and massive boost before the exhaust gasses take over in spinning those turbos. When Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar is driven using unleaded 95-Octane, it offers 1,262hp but when E85 is used, it increases to 1,578hp and 1,500Nm of torque. The transmission is dubbed as Light Speed Transmission (LST), a nine-speed multiclutch unit designed in-house that doesn’t feature traditional synch rings at all. With the help if LST, changing gear allows direct change between gears. Weight of whole transmission is 90kg that constitute of wet clutches, flywheel, fluids, starter motor and oil pumps.
Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar is 40mm longer and 22mm higher than the model it is replacing which makes cabin more spacious. To prevent it from squatting under acceleration at the rear, Triplex damper is fitted at the front. Because of the huge front splitter and enormous rear wing, it can produce 800kg of downforce at 155mpg, 1,000kg at 171mph and 1,400kg at its top speed. Interior of Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar consist of steering wheel with two small touchscreen displays with haptic feedback and a new compact 5-inch SmartCluster digital instrument binnacle. Only 125 units of Jesko will be made and annual production is set at 40 to 50 units. Price is expected to be around $3 million excluding taxes.
