Infiniti revealed working prototype of new Project Black S Concept. In the year 2017, Infiniti Q60 Project Black S was showcased at Geneva Motor Show. Infiniti Project Black S Concept is jointly developed with the help of Renault Sport Formula One Team. It will explore blending of Renault’s dual-hybrid powertrain technology from Formula One that is going to be applied on road-going car. Design of the Project Black S Concept is quite similar to 2017 Q60 Project Black S Concept. Infiniti Project Black S Concept is based on Q60 Red Sport 400. Hence, it will feature twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 engine.
The V6 engine offers an output of 400hp and 475Nm of torque. It incorporates hybrid technology and thus, features three electric motor generator units along with 4.4kWh lithium-ion battery. It is billed as “energy harvesting systems” as the motor generates electricity under acceleration and braking. The generated electricity is used to spool up the e-turbos and powers an electric motor that is integrated into the rear axle. The system produces 160hp and it helps the Project Black S Concept to offer maximum combined output of 563hp. Details of the Infiniti Project Black S Concept performance specifications has not been released, but Infiniti claims that it will be able to accelerate 0-60mph in under four seconds.
Infiniti Project Black S Concept also has carbon-ceramic braking system with ventilated and drilled discs. The dimension of it is 15 inch on front and 14.1 inch at rear. It also features sportier suspension, adjustable anti-lock braking and traction control systems. Three different driving modes control how electric motor is used. Renault Sport Formula One Team refines styling and hence, features “computational fluid dynamics software to deliver more effective powertrain cooling and enhanced downforce”. Concept is equipped with larger air intakes, a ventilated hood and improved aerodynamics has been designed to cool rear electric motor. Because of the usage of hybrid powertrain, weight of concept gets an additional 441lbs.
