Hyundai is updating i40 sedan and station wagon for 2019MY. Important changes to the 2019 Hyundai i40 include grille structure, technological upgrades, new safety features and a new diesel engine. With respect to aesthetics, the front end gets an important change which has latest version of Cascading Grille. It also gets new 18 inch alloy wheels along with 16 and 17 inch that is available with the predecessor. Two interior color options is available with 2019 Hyundai i40 which are Merlot Red and a combination of Black and Grey. Black and Beige color combination is already available with the outgoing model. All interior colors come with full leather trims. However, Black and Beige is also available with cloth.
Additional update inside the cabin are new door panel inlays that matches the seat color and metal trim on the dashboard. It is the combination of Merlot Red and Grey interiors. 2019 Hyundai i40 is also offering safety features and one of the most important among them is Hyundai SmartSense that includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist system (FCA). This technology sends an alert to driver during emergency situation and automatically applies brakes when needed. FCA system is activated when a vehicle is detected in the front which has speed of 6mph or above.
Now, the most important update 2019 Hyundai i40 is new Smartstream 1.6 liter diesel engine. It is compliant with the latest Euro 6D temp regulation. Stock version of the engine delivers 113hp and 280Nm of torque. The engine is mated with six-speed manual transmission that returns 61.4-65.7mpg UK combined cycle (NEDC). A powerful version of the same is rated at 134hp and 320Nm of torque. Six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available as option. Hyundai claims that the new Smartstream engine consumes less fuel and offers increased performance. For those who don’t like diesel unit can opt for 1.6 liter GDI gasoline engine that is rated at 133hp that is mated with six-speed manual gearbox.
