At the upcoming New York Auto Show, Honda Civic Type R will make its debut. Honda also announced that the sale will commence from late spring. According to Honda, it will be the first Type R badged model which will be made available in US and it will have a price tag of mid $30k. This price will make Honda Civic Type R a direct competitor to the Ford Focus RS. The price of the Ford Focus RS is $36,120. It was already revealed the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The power in the Honda Civic Type R comes from 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 316 horsepower and torque of 295 pound-feet. The power from the engine is sent to the front axle via manual six-speed gearbox with the help of rev-matching function. However, it is only option which has been made available. Customer who loves manual will love this feature. Jeff Conrad who is the senior VP and General Manager of Honda America said that it would be one of the most powerful Honda models to be sold in US.
Apart from Honda Civic Type R, Clarity Plug-in hybrid and Clarity Electric will also be seen at this event. The electric variant is expected to have a price tag of $35,000 which is quite good, but reports suggest that the range will be around 80 miles only. The new Civic Type R is 38% stiffer than its predecessor. On the other hand, Clarity Plug-in Hybrid is expected to have a range of 40 miles when driven using electric power. We will have for the New York Auto Show to know more about it.
