At the recent 2019 Ford Nationals held in Pennsylvania, highly appreciated 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was put on display. This gave us a golden opportunity to get close with this mean machine and have also attached a video of the same. Ford showcased 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 to the world at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. Strangely, it has yet to reveal exact power it generates. Nonetheless, we know that 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered with supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that delivers output in excess of 700hp. Engine is mated with Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that transfer power to rear wheels with help from custom carbon fiber driveshaft.
Interestingly, supercharger displaces 2.65-liter that makes it larger than blower that is used on Hellcat and Camaro ZL1. The video doesn’t give any new information regarding the power in Shelby GT500 but it wears shade of red. 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 show here is video is base-spec model which is free of the optional Carbon Fiber Track Package. Hence, we won’t find a large carbon fixed wing at the wing and other carbon trimmings, Recaro bucket seats and no carbon fiber wheels.
There is also second GT500 shown in the video and it is one of the prototypes used during wind tunnel testing of the car. The prototype in question is based on Shelby GT350. However, it is adorned by bespoke components from GT500 including the overt hood.
