We have often come across concept vehicles at different auto shows that goes into oblivion. However, this might not be the case with Genesis Essentia which was revealed to the world at last year’s New York Auto Show. This electric coupe with its sleek design impressed everyone at the marque event. At this year’s New York Auto Show, Genesis head gave us a hint that was about bringing this concept to the production line. In an interview to Australian magazine Motoring, Manfred Fitzgerald said that official figure about the Genesis Essentia is on the verge of full disclosure.
Genesis’s first pure electric vehicle will go on sale from the year 2021. Even though he didn’t give the identity of the car but when was asked more disclosure, he claimed that the car won’t be production version of the Mint Concept which is currently on display in New York. Since, Genesis GV80 SUV is due later this year in their home country and Manfred Fitzgerald announced that new car will ride on fully electric platform. In essence, he was talking about Essentia.
Not much is known about the coupe, but the Essentia Concept had electric motors that gave us an unknown output. But it was enough for it to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in around 3.0 seconds. Genesis’ design boss, Peter Schreyer already confirmed last year that butterfly door won’t be able to make it into production. If Genesis Essentia do hit production line, don’t expect it to be cheap. Fitzgerald had said in an older interview that road-going model would be company’s most expensive car with limited availability.
