Earlier this year, Genesis Essentia Concept made its debut at the New York Auto Show and mesmerized everyone with its stunning design. Now, Genesis Motor America Executive Director, Erwin Raphael has finally confirmed that it will go into production. In an interview to Motor Trend, he said that company is committed towards Essentia Concept and is confident that it will do quite good. He didn’t get into specifics but confirmed that production model will be built in limited numbers. At this point, we still don’t know how many cars will be built. Nonetheless, Motor Trend reports that it will be the most expensive Genesis model ever built.
We cannot really speculate about the exact pricing but can factor in other Genesis models. For instance, 2018 Genesis G90 has the starting price of $68,350 and range-topping G90 5.0 Ultimate AWD starts from $74,350. We didn’t factor in destination fees, if we do the price would certainly increase. Not much is known about the Genesis Essentia Concept, but company’s Global Head had earlier told the publication that everything on the concept is feasible and production model might arrive by the year 2020 or 2021.
Nonetheless, the production version of Genesis Essentia Concept won’t be a true recreation as it will lose out on butterfly doors. This news was confirmed by Peter Schreyer who is Hyundai’s Hyundai Motor Group Chief Design Officer. Genesis Essentia Concept will remain a true sports coupe as promised by the company. Genesis Essentia Concept featured carbon fiber bodywork and a transparent hood. Interior is made stylish thanks to leather upholstery, a digital instrument cluster and a wrap-around widescreen display. To give it a unique look, there are layered 3D carbon fiber trim and polished aluminum accents.
