Stuttgart based tuning company that specializes in Porsche vehicles is set to come up with their own car. Gemballa came into existence in the year 1981 and over the course of their history they have only modified other vehicles and especially Porsche. They have made for themselves with amazing tuning works. Some might not agree with Gemballa being called a “tuner”. Since, it has been recognized as a bona fide car manufacturer by the German Motor Vehicles Authority. Nonetheless, they have not yet to build a standalone car on its own.
All this is set to change as Gemballa has announced their plan to build its own supercar. It is a momentous change for the German tuner as they are doing it for first time. For making it a possibility, they are opening for opening for new investors which they haven’t done since 2010. In the year 2010, the company was brought by Steffen Korbach and other investors post the death of its founder. Since 2010, they have received over €15 million which has been used for relaunching and new tuning projects. Funding for the project will be done through private equity and venture capital companies.
With the additional investment of €20 million, Gemballa is planning to bring forth bespoke supercar to the world that won’t be based on anything. Owner and managing director of Gemballa made this disclosure and promised that thoroughbred super sports car will be unique, aggressive design and engine power offering in excess of 800hp. They would like to reference existing vehicles and range of innovations. A sketch of the upcoming supercar was released to accompany the news that featured mid-engine layout. Gemballa promised that first designs will be showcased selected clients soon. First prototype to be built by early 2020 and if everything goes according to plan, production will begin from 2022.
