First official photos of the new subcompact SUV by Geely has been released. Geely Icon is heavily inspired by namesake concept vehicle from 2018. It was unveiled during a Chinese design seminar in Nanjing. This B-segment SUV shows an evolved version of Geely’s “Expanding Cosmos design DNA”. At the same time, they are also exploring limits of the Geely’s design language. What is most interesting is Geely Icon retains distinctive blocky silhouette from the concept. With respect to aesthetics, Geely Icon features split headlights and an expanding cosmos grille.
There are also pop-out door handles whereas rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals. Rear of the SUV has infinity loop motif in the signature of the LED taillights. Dashboard of Geely Icon consist of two big screens which are instrument panel and central infotainment display. With the help of dual interactive screens, users can easily interact with vehicle and also is able to connect with rest of the world through GKUI Geely Smart Ecosystem. Dashboard is quite similar to Citroen C4 Cactus. Geely Icon is the second SUV to be based in modular BMA architecture following Bin Yue. The same platform is used for Bin Rue sedan.
Details of the Geely Icon has not been revealed as of yet but it is said to feature 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. Even the dimensions of subcompact SUV is not known. However, report claims that it would be 171.5-inch long, 71.2-inch wide and 63.6-inch high. Wheelbase stands at 103.9-inches which makes it larger than Bin Yue. Geely stated that Icon has been designed as a global model to open a new era of smart mobility for a “new generations of users, a generation demanding high-tech inspired vehicle”.
