The very first production-spec of SSC Tuatara will be delivered to its customer during next month’s Monterey Car Week at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. News of the Tuatara is long awaited and the announcement of display at Monterey Car Week comes shortly after SSC disclosed that production of this highly anticipated had commenced. Incidentally, it has been 12 months after the original SSC Tuatara was revealed last year. Power in SSC Tuatara is derived from twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter V8 engine.
It is rated at 1,750hp when used with E85 fuel. When 91 Octane fuel is used on Tuatara, peak output is decreased to 1,350hp. SSC has high expectation from Tuatara and strongly believes that it has a good chance of hitting 300 mph. It will out them in company of Koenigsegg Regera and Hennessey Venom F5. The powerful engine of Tuatara is mate with seven-speed transmission with hydraulically-driven components to offer lightning-fast gear changes. Power is exclusively sent through rear wheels.
SSC is boastful about the exterior design of Tuatara and claims that the drag coefficient is just 0.279. This factor made company believe that it puts them in a perfect position to ensure Tuatara is the first street-legal production to hit 300 mph mark. Not much is known about the pricing of the SSC Tuatara, but expected to start from $2 million. We will have to wait for more weeks to see this hypercar in flesh.
