The all-electric DS 3 Crossback is anticipated to be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Auto Show in the month of September. It is reported by Auto Express that DS 3 Crossback will be the first vehicle to come with company’s e-CMP architecture. Eric Apode, DS vice president of product said that the reason of premiere of this model ahead of Peugeot or Citroen models is because of the position that DS holds key marquee for technology. At this point of time, information regarding DS 3 Crossback is limited.
However, t is confirmed that DS 3 Crossback will be positioned to rival against the Hyundai Kona Electric. It is also not know if it will be unveiled as concept or production. Hyundai Kona Electric features entry-level 39kWh battery pack along with 134hp electric motor. Customers of Hyundai electric who wants extra power can also opt for 64kWh battery which is paired with 201hp electric motor. It will have an approximate range of 300 miles. It was reported that it will launch in 2019 along with new Peugeot 208. The design of DS 3 Crossback will be inspired from current DS3 and new DS7 Crossback.
PSA had already announced that e-CMP platform will be able to support battery pack up to 50kWh. It will have a range around 280 miles. The aforementioned platform is exclusively developed for smaller vehicles. Premium brand of Groupe PSA plans to electrify its entire vehicle by the year 2025. DS3 plays a major role in DS car sales figure.
