In month of August, we revealed a small Dutch automaker, Donkervoort who unveiled a special limited-edition model. Dubbed as Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70, it celebrates 70th birth anniversary of company’s founder Joop Donkervoort. This model is highest-performing vehicle in its range. Power in the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 comes from 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder unit that produces 415 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. Generated power is sent to rear wheels with help from close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and new limited-slip differential. Few upgrades made into Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 consist of new exhaust system, adjustable front and rear sway bars and three-way adjustable shock absorbers.
Donkervoort claims that D8 GTO-JD70 can pull more than 2G of lateral acceleration during cornering on its standard road tires and 1.65G of deceleration. Nonetheless, it can still rocket off the line at a peak of 1.02G. Few changes has been made to its aerodynamics and can be seen from a new front fascia, wheel arches, and others. It results in 80kg of rear downforce and 50kg of front downforce. There is also eye-catching rear diffuser. More than 95 per cent of vehicle’s bodywork is made from carbon fiber that results in total weight tipped at less than 700kg.
Donkervoort Managing Director, Denis Donkervoort said that D8 GTO-JD70 has moved beyond normal measures for acceleration, braking and cornering and thus, they are using G forces now. He went further by stating that it is driver’s machine unlike any other machine in the market. Only 70 units of Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 will be made and price of each units stands at €163,636.
