Peugeot have revealed the 2019 Dongfeng 508L at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. This event is scheduled between 16th to 25th November. Dongfeng Peugeot 508L is aimed specifically for local market and has elongated wheelbase. Some might even call it a long wheelbase version of the Peugeot 508L and thus the “L” moniker. It can also stands for luxury and latest technology as claimed by the French automaker. With respect to design, there is not much change in the Dongfeng Peugeot 508L when compared with the Western market 508. Nonetheless, it has been stretched by 100 mm and currently, the overall length is 4,856 mm.
Wheelbase has been increased by 55 mm and makes it 2848 mm. This improves cabin space and offers more legroom for passengers, especially for those who are sitting at the back. This factor is going to play a huge role for Chinese sedan buyers. Jean-Philippe Imparato, company’s CEO said that Dongfeng Peugeot 508L is the embodiment of their priority of Chinese market. Their new unveiled signature is the part of their new offensive in China that reflects their ambition to place technology and experience at the heart of their upmarket strategy for Chinese customers.
Dongfeng Peugeot 508L will feature 10 inch infotainment system and 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster. It will also benefit from IoT OceanConnect platform developed by Huawei. Incidentally, this is the first vehicle in its class to receive this technology. Dongfeng Peugeot 508L will go on sale in China from first quarter in next year. Conventional sedan and wagon variants will get plug-in hybrid powertrain by next fall. During this event, 508L was joined by e-Legend Concept.
