The production version of the Citroen Aircross Concept will be launched this year on the Chinese car market. According to the rumors it will hit the Chinese car market at the end of 2017. Its target is the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan L. So like the Tiguan L, the Aircross Concept will also have a seven seat option and lots of space. It is rumored that the SUV will have most of the design elements of the rugged crossover look of the show car. It includes bumpers and black wheel arches. It made its debut two years ago in Shanghai.
The Citroen Aircross will likely be named as the C5 Aircross. It will probably use the EMP2 platform which underpins many models already coming from the PSA Group. It includes Citroen C6 and the new Peugeot 3008. Underneath the hood, it will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine producing 280 NM and 203 HP of torque. It will be connected with an automatic six speed transmission. It is expected that from next year a PHEV variant will also join the family. The French carmaker said that the Citroen Aircross will offer a taste of International ambitions which is developed with a body style intended for worldwide sale.
The Citroen Aircross C5 will be produced in the People’s Republic by the Dongfeng PSA joint venture. Its prices are believed to start from 210,000 yuan to 320,000 yuan for the top level model. This means it will be $30,430 at current exchange rates. The model can be also launched in the other parts of the world including Europe. It may serve there as a replacement of the C5 D-segment sedan which will be axed.
