Chevrolet has revealed that highly anticipated C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible will be premiered next month. Even before the unveiling of mid-engine Chevrolet C8 Corvette, we had known that a convertible version was under work during the C8 revelation. First image of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible has been disclosed. Kai Spande, Corvette Assemble Plant Manager during the Corvette Museum’s 25th Anniversary event held last weekend, gave a solid timeframe as to when convertible will debut.
In a reply to audience question, he said that he didn’t have the exact date for confirmation. During the premiere of coupe, 1 second view of convertible was seen and he reiterated that October timeframe will be used to showcase Convertible. We have already spotted few prototypes of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible being tested before the coupe unveiling. The leaked images suggest that it will have two buttresses directly behind the passenger cell. However, we are unsure how will the roof stowing mechanism work but we know for sure that it will be a folding hardtop.
Power in the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible will be derived from same powertrain used in the coupe. Hence, we are going to see naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine. In base trim, it offers an output of 490 horsepower and with Z51 Performance Package and exhaust, output is increased to 495hp. A new document surfaced suggest that convertible will be 46kg heavier than the Coupe. To watch the whole episode, check out the attached video here.
