Cadillac’s first ever hybrid model XT5 Hybrid was launched in China. Cadillac XT5 Hybrid made its debut at Chengdu Motor Show and will go on sale right in China after the show. It will available in China in two trims which are XT5 28E Platinum 4WD and 28E Advanced 4WD. The price of both these version will be similar to the model they are replacing which are XT5 28T Platinum 4WD and 28T Advanced 4WD respectively. Both of them will have all-wheel drive system and same powertrain.
The mild hybrid system in the Cadillac XT5 Hybrid is said to have better fuel economy and has improved ride comfort and driving agility particularly at four events points which are start/stop, cruising, braking and acceleration. The engine works in conjugation with nine-speed automatic transmission gearbox and has been tweaked especially for urban roads. The amalgamation of mild hybrid system along with automatic transmission gives fuel economy rating to just 29.77 miles per gallon. The electric motor in the system helps in recovering excess power and also supports when the vehicle is accelerating.
The recovering of excess power can be seen experienced during the cruising of vehicle at constant speed and at deceleration. Cadillac XT5 Hybrid comprises of 10th generation OnStar system that has 22 intelligent services and 5 years subscription of Automatic Crash Response, Remote Vehicle Data Update, and Remote Vehicle Control, Vehicle Diagnostics, and Dealer Maintenance Notification. Latest infotainment system from Cadillac is also present in the vehicle. Overall, Cadillac XT5 Hybrid is a good replacement of the outgoing models.
