It is not a secret that Cadillac is planning to have important part of the luxury car segment which is dominated by the Germans. To get their part of this pie they need to have larger portfolio. Thankfully, now they have come up with an expansion plan which they hope will make them a major player in the luxury car segment. According to Automobile magazine, the American carmaker has planned to introduce as many as eight models and all will be launched by the year 2021. Majority of vehicles (half of them) will be crossovers.
Cadillac Escalade has been such a profitable and it will continue to be so as truck-based body-on-frame SUV. However, it will come with more powerful engine and sophisticated suspension. The remaining sport lineup with based on unibody construction just like any other car. Cadillac XT2 is to be introduced in the year 2020 and will compete against the likes of BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. There is also a good chance that XT4 makes its debut before the XT2. Cadillac XT4 will go after the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
XT5 will be launched in 2021 and it competes against X5 and GLE. The new XT7 (XT8) is positioned to compete against upcoming BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. Cadillac will also come up with new passenger cars and most of them will be four-door sedan. CT1 or CT2 is tipped for the year 2021 and will compete against BMW 1 Series sedan. However, it will be done after the launch of XT3 to rival Mercedes CLA. The current CTS will be replaced by the CT5 in 2019 and will be slotted between CT6 and CT8. The styling will be inspired by Escala, Ciel, and Elmiraj. Johan de Nysschen is the mastermind behind this plan and has previously worked wonders for Audi in America.
