BMW has already announced the end production if i8 plug-in hybrid sports car in April 2020. It has been six years for 369hp PHEV after it came to our world. To mark this occasion, BMW has released a final special edition. It is dubbed as BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto and described as “the last line of exclusive special editions of world’s highest selling plug-in hybrid sports car”. It is currently on display at Frankfurt Motor Show in Coupe guise, but it is also available as a Roadster.
Only 200 units of BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto will be made and evenly split between Coupe and Roadster. One of the most defining aspect in this special edition is the paintwork applied on the exterior. BMW calls it as Sophisto Grey Brillian Effect and this is where the name is derived. The stunning exterior is complemented by accent in E-Copper. It also marks the first time this color is used in such a manner. Few exclusive features in the BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto also includes 20-inch BMW i light alloy wheels in radial spoke design. It has a dual tone look blending E-Copper and black.
Upon closer inspection, we would notice clear-glass taillights which is yet another special feature. Moreover, there is also Shadow Line trim element on C-Pillar and high-gloss tailgate inlay. Even the brake calipers is painted in high-gloss black and consist of blue detailing and BMW i badging. Inside of the BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto comprise of Accaro interior in Black/E-Copper that matches the exterior. Door sill plates features “Ultimate Sophisto Edition” lettering and a numbered “X of 200” badge, marking the car’s exclusive status. Roadster gains travel package and whereas i8 Coupe gets anthracite colored headliner and extended storage.
