BMW has finally announced the pricing details of the new 8-Series Coupe but it is for their home market. BMW 8-Series will be available in two trims which are 840d diesel and M850i petrol. Both of them will feature xDrive all-wheel drive system. The price for the 840d diesel and M850i petrol are €100,000 and €125,700 respectively. Talking about the 840d diesel, it is powered with twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. This diesel engine generates 315 horsepower and 680Nm of torque and enables the coupe to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 4.9 seconds. BMW M850i xDrive petrol version is much more powerful thanks to the new twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine. The combined output of this setup is 523 horsepower and 750Nm of torque. The generated power is transferred to the both the axles. BMW claims that it would take them just 3.7 seconds to hit 62mph from stagnant position. BMW 840d xDrive and M850i xDrive comes with dual-clutch eight-speed automatic gearbox, but it has been enhanced. Several gears are available as optional but it will make the BMW 8-Series more expensive.
If added with optional gears, BMW 8-Series will become more expensive than base version of Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. The price of S-Class Coupe kicks off from €128,121 (price in Germany) in S560 form. It is powered with V8 petrol engine and churns out 462 horsepower. Coming back to BMW 8-Series, M Sport Package is only available with M850i xDrive and priced at €5,550. On the other hand, M Technic Sport Package is priced at €4,100. If a customer opts for Carbon Package then they would have to shell out an extra €4,100 whereas without carbon fiber roof it is €3,000.
